Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!
The Jets lost to the 2-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers! Hahahaha! Yes!
After a very frustrating win against the hated Buffalo Bills we’re kind of back on track with the tank. We are 4-6, so let’s hope to lose the next 6 games in a row and move to 4-12 so we can hopefully move back into a top 10 drafting position.
Sundays game against Tampa Bay featured our old friend Ryan Fitzpatrick was one of the ugliest games of the year. It poured before kickoff and both teams combined for six field goals on the day. The only touchdown came in the last 30 seconds when Josh McCown through a nice ball to a wide open Robby Anderson.
Watch the “highlights” down here if you want, there isn’t much to see:
What makes me so happy about this Jets loss was that they were exposed for all their flaws justifying my argument for the tank. I’ve been getting a lot of sh*t for “rooting against” my team, but hopefully those critics now see why the Jets need to tank for a full on rebuild.
The Jets defense is great and cheap. Young stars like Jamal Adams and Leonard Williams are showing out. Muhammad Wilkerson is finally healthy after breaking his leg two years ago and Darron Lee has greatly improved from his rookie year. The future is bright on the defensive side of the ball, but you can’t be dominant without a decent offense.
Josh McCown and company were exposed by the Tampa Bay defense yesterday and all that it shows is that we need a franchise quarterback and we need an offensive line. Josh McCown and any other possible quarterback options like Jimmy Garropolo and Kirk Cousins can’t save this team because theres no way both of those quarterbacks are leaving their respective teams. Let’s not even begin to think about the failures of Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty.
We need a young new face under center in New York that we can develop and mold into a franchise quarterback. Trading up for Sam Darnold, Josh Rosen, or Josh Allen would be ideal, but it’s easier said than done. And I swear to god if the Jets take Baker Mayfield I’m gonna kill Todd Bowles. I’ll save that for another article though.
The offensive line probably played their worse game all year letting up six total sacks and nine tackles for loss. I’ll be honest, the line has been one of the biggest surprises this year, but they were absolutely thrashed by the Buccaneers defensive line. To be good in the National Football League you need to be able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and the Jets only do so on the defensive side.
The only way the Jets are ever going to compete again in this league is if they decide to revamp the offense by fixing the line and changing the quarterback. Hopefully Todd Bowles can realize this and start to end the suffering.
