No you didn’t read that wrong… UNC senior point guard, and preseason All-American, Joel Berry, broke his hand because he was mad at a video game. The story goes that Berry got into an intense game of NBA 2k18 with a fellow teammate and team manager, lost, and proceeded to punch a door out of rage, breaking his hand.
This is one of the dumbest injuries I’ve ever heard of, but I respect the hell out of it. Berry has been described as competitive before, but this takes it to a whole new level.
I’d like to consider myself a pretty competitive guy, and I have played my share of 2k. I understand that 2k matches can get intense, and I’ve given out and recieved chirps that made me want to break my controller, but I’ve never had the balls to do it. I have to give Berry mad respect for going so hard.
Who knows, maybe this reaction was completely warranted. I’ve seen some of the world’s biggest BS come out of 2k before, so in all honesty, his friend probably drained a full court prayer to win the game, and shook his ass in front of Berry for five minutes.
Joel… I respect you man. You gotta go full tilt boogie in everything if you want to be the best, and you sir, have proved that you do.
